Fish Fry Sunday

When I read this recipe from Tyler Florence it brought back some great memories of my time in England. It's been many years since my visit, but unwrapping Fish n' Chips from within Newsprint Paper and eating them with Mushy Peas on blue and white china is still one of my favorite English treats. There was an unmistakable flavor to the chips in England that I haven't found an equal to. I don't know if it was a sweetener that was added or just that the potato's in Britain have a distinct flavor..but if you happen to read this post and have an alternative recipe for me and more Fish N' Chip history I would much appreciate it! :)

Also..those mushy peas.. I'd love a recipe!

Fish and chips! A staple at my house with the english bloke! I use a beer batter and twice fry the chips. Did you know that they no longer use newspaper? That's what the bloke tells me. A very good blog about english cooking is "Marie Cooks Britain". She's very helpful with English recipes and she once gave me the recipe for mushy peas, but I've since lost it. She's a really sweet person as well :)

I saw that show with Tyler, and yours looks just as good! I don't eat fried fish that often, but when I do I love it with malt vinegar. Great job Laurie!

Oh man, I love good fish n' chips! This looks soooo good! You are right the fish n' chips just taste different over there! It looks wonderful!

I once read in La Cucina Magazine that it is the Italians that brough fried fish to America....not so sure about that one! ;)
